The History

PAGADIAN CITY - in the old known province of Zamboanga, a former barrio of the municipal district of Labangan which was organized into a regular municipality by virtue of Executive Order No. 77 on March 23, 1937. It was then change over into a city upon the handing over and favorable reception on June 21, 1969 of Republic Act 5478, recognized as the Charter of the City of Pagadian.

The City is politically subdivided into 54 barangays of which thirteen (13) are urbans and forty-one (41) are rurals. This barangays are as follows, Alegria, Balangasan (Pob.), Balintawak, Baloyboan, Banale, Bogo, Bomba, Buenavista, Bulatok, Bulawan, Dampalan, Danlugan, Dao, Datagan, Deborok, Ditoray, Dumagoc, Gatas (Pob.), Gubac, Gubang, Kagawasan, Kahayagan, Kalasan, Kawit, La Suerte, Lala, Lapidian, Lenienza, Lizon Valley, Lourdes, Lower Sibatang, Lumad, Lumbia, Macasing, Manga, Muricay, Napolan, Palpalan , Pedulonan, Poloyagan, San Francisco (Pob.), San Jose (Pob.), San Pedro (Pob.), Santa Lucia (Pob.), Santa Maria, Santiago (Pob.), Santo Niņo, Tawagan Sur, Tiguma, Tuburan (Pob.), Tulangan, Tulawas, Upper Sibatang, White Beach.

The name of Pagadian, being a market during the Maguindanaon Sultanate, was derived from the Maguindanaon term pagad (wait) and padian (market), being a market during the Maguindanaon Sultanate.

Pagadian city, situated on the northwastern side of the region, is the gateway to Zamboanga del Sur, the largest province of Western Mindanao. Its trilled terrain surrounding both commercial and residential districts, remindful of the renowned Crown Colony, has earned for it the moniker Little Hongkong of the South.

GREEN MEADOW HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION - Baloyboan Phase 2 is one of the tourist spot subdivision in the city of Pagadian. It is considered as one of the most overlooking tourist spot subdivision located near the new regional center of Zamboanga del Sur, the Pagadian City. It is the only way up to the most breath-taking overlooking view of Mt. Palpalan where major commercial communication systems transmitters are situated. Having your way to the subdivision from the city downtown only takes 5 to 10 minutes which approximately equivalent to 2.5 km.
